Vim is an enhanced version of UNIX text editor Vi, with additional features to help edit the source code. im's enhancements include file comparison (vimdiff), syntax highlighting, a comprehensive help system, local scripting (Vimscript), and easy-to-select visualization modes. V im focuses on keyboard operations, and it's not as simple an editor as nano or pico. Vim takes time to learn and deserves more time to master.

It's a little painful to start learning vim, it's time-was, it's a bit like playing an instrument. Don't expect to be able to use it well in less than 3 days like other editors, in fact, it must take 2 weeks instead of 3 days.
