Which is the only browser that supports vbscript?

Asked by Veronica Colon on Dec 14, 2021 VBScript

VBScript is supported just by Microsoft's Internet Explorer while other browsers (Firefox and Chrome) support just JavaScript. Hence, developers normally prefer JavaScript over VBScript. Though Internet Explorer (IE) supports VBScript, you may need to enable or disable this feature manually.
Additionally,
Microsoft never supported VBScript in Microsoft Edge, which meant it was limited to Internet Explorer 11. Other browsers like Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome, and Apple Safari never implemented VBScript, either. VBScript was a scripting language modeled after Microsoft’s Visual Basic. Its full name is “Microsoft Visual Basic Scripting Edition.”
Thereof, VBScript is gone. Once a scripting language to compete with JavaScript in web browsers, VBScript is now disabled by default in Internet Explorer on all supported versions of Windows after a recent Windows update. But VBScript has been fading away for years.
Furthermore,
It was possible to include either or both VBScript and JScript on the same web page. However, developers that used VBScript in their web pages were marrying their websites to Internet Explorer, since VBScript was a language proprietary to Microsoft.
Keeping this in consideration,
In order to preserve the backwards compatibility of the web in general, JavaScript is still the only supported scripting language supported by all browsers. The entire JavaScript ecosystem today has matured to the point where JavaScript is a very capable, continually evolving platform.
