If you want your site to store data in the database and display data from the database, your Web server must be able to access the database system in the SQL language.

If your web server is hosted by an Internet service provider (ISP, full name Internet Service Provider), you must look for a SQL host plan.

The most common SQL host databases are MySQL, MS SQL Server, and MS Access.

You can run sql host databases on Windows and Linux/UNIX operating systems.

The following is an overview of the corresponding running database systems on the operating system.

• MS SQL Server
  Runs only on Windows OS.
  
• Mysql
  Runs on Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux/UNIX operating systems.
  
• MS Access (recommended for small websites only)
  Runs only on Windows OS.
