Why are text fonts not like normal fonts?

The different text fonts are all a part of the Unicode standard which means that they're not like normal fonts. If they were normal fonts you wouldn't be able to copy and paste them anywhere.
Keeping this in consideration,
When you add new fonts by clicking Install New Font in the Fonts tool in Control Panel, no fonts may be displayed. This behavior occurs because the Fonts option has not been enabled by default. Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
