Which is better emery file or crystal nail file?

Asked by Erik Whitaker on Dec 03, 2021 FAQ

At the end of the day, whether you use an emery or a glass file is totally up to you and your nail preferences. That said, if you’re worried about your nail health, you want your manicure to last longer, or you’re looking for a more sustainable option, crystal nail files are definitely the move.
Also,
The big advantage is that it doesn’t tear the nail like the emery board or metal file, so you can file in both directions and it smooths out the nail tip as it files (yay). No jagged edges to smooth out. Better yet the glass file is designed to close the nail tip and actually seal it, preventing water etc. from getting into your nails.
Consequently, If you’ve ever damaged your nails with a traditional emery board, a crystal nail file might be a gentler option and could even reduce chipping and peeling.
In this manner,
Ceramic is more affordable but less durable than glass or crystal. Electric: Electric nail files use either batteries or 110/240V power to buff, shape, and smooth the nails. Commonly used in professional nail salons, it does take some time to get used to operating an electric nail file.
Keeping this in consideration,
Emery Board Nail Files Emery boards are basically strips of cardboard with small grains of sand stuck to them. Think of them as sandpaper because that’s pretty much what they are. They work by tearing the end of your nail as you slide it across the tip of your nail (ouch).
