What's the difference between next day and next day?

Asked by Kathryn Lugo on Dec 08, 2021 FAQ

Using this logic, for days, this should refer to the day coming in the next 6 days (this week), while next should refer to the day in the next 7-13 days (the next week). Note, this should not be used on the day before, or on the day itself, when we would use tomorrow or today (but continue to use next for the following Friday).
Accordingly,
Here’s a quick comparison: Regular Next Day Air guarantees next-day delivery and typically arrives at around 10:00 a.m. the next business day. Next Day Air Early guarantees next-day delivery and arrives as early as 8:00 a.m. the next business day.
And, "Then" refers back to the "next day", so is redundant. It would be as if you had written: "On the next day he disappeared and has never been seen since [that next day]." You must log in or register to reply here.
Also Know,
We use "the next day" when we have established a day and are talking about the one that follows. In your sample sentence, I wouldn't say "the next day after that." I might say: One day John told us he had met a wizard. On the next day [ after that] he disappeared and has never been seen since [ then].
In respect to this,
Next day and same day delivery are now highly sought-after services by consumers who want their packages shipped instantly. Both are faster than the traditional courier service that takes much longer—around 2 to 3 days—leaving many consumers antsy to get their hands on the goods they’ve purchased.
