What is the formula for manning's formula for gravity flow?

Asked by Guadalupe Butler on Dec 03, 2021 FAQ

Manning's equation can be used to calculate cross-sectional average velocity flow in open channels. n = Manning coefficient of roughness - ranging from 0.01 (a clean and smooth channel) to 0.06 (a channel with stones and debris, 1/3 of vegetation)
Also Know,
Manning’s Equation calculates the velocity (V) of flow through a circular or non-circular cross section pipe running full (but not under pressure) using the below equation; This is the flow cross sectional area divided by the wetted perimeter or the length of the cross section which is in contact with the flowing water.
One may also ask, The Mannings equation is an empirical equation that applies to uniform flow in open channels and is a function of the channel velocity, flow area and channel slope.
Keeping this in consideration,
NOTE: Ks strickler = 1/ n manning. The coefficient Ks strickler varies from 20 (rough stone and rough surface) to 80 m 1/3 /s (smooth concrete and cast iron). The discharge formula, Q = A V, can be used to manipulate Gauckler–Manning's equation by substitution for V.
Consequently,
