Is the non-unicode system ready for unicode conversion?

Asked by Kalel Barnett on Dec 14, 2021 FAQ

While the non-Unicode system is still iin productive mode, the alternate nametab is created to prepare the data dictionary for the Unicode Conversion. Then transaction SPUMG will perform final updates to the control tables and the system will be ready for shutdown.
And,
After the preparation of the non-Unicode system is finished, you use SAPInst to create the system copy. During this process, the data is converted to Unicode by the Export/Import tool R3load. Unicode conversion can take place only while the data is being exported because R3load has to access the SPUMG results in the database.
Accordingly, It is important to know if your system is Unicode or non-Unicode when contacting and / or opening a message with SAP Global Support. It may also be helpful if you have just taken over a new Basis role within a company and are not familiar with the system's landscape.
Indeed,
Normally customer is choosing multiple maintenance activities like upgrade, HANA migration along with Unicode Conversion, DB upgrades, Platform changes, Data Center Relocation. With additional scope it will additional activities during the project and which should be planned.
Next,
