Is the beano boost a full treble boost?

Asked by Alaric Frye on Nov 30, 2021 FAQ

Unlike the extremely rare original, the Beano Boost also adds a 3-way switch to tailor the frequency response between the original treble boost, a mid boost and a full frequency boost. There are two varieties: the full-sized Beano Boost and the Beano Boost Mini. The Mini only operates on a power supply but is otherwise the same pedal.
In fact,
Analog Man produces the Beano Boost. This pedal is based on the Dallas Rangemaster, a type of BOOSTER, not really a distortion pedal nor a clean boost. It excites certain frequencies and pushes your amp to allow it to create rich, crunchy tube distortion.
Subsequently, The Beano Boost (or any treble booster) is not nearly as compressed as a Fuzz Face or Tone Bender. “Treble boost” is a bit misleading. It’s really a mid-range boost. As well as boosting mid range, it also cuts the low end.
Just so,
This is the Analog Man Beano Boosttm, a simple looking yet effective pedal. This pedal is based on the 1960s British Dallas Rangemaster, which was best at the time to give a treble and gain boost to the dark British amps. This allowed them to get a sound more in tune with the time, as guitars were starting to become a loud, bold, lead instrument.
Thereof,
“Treble boost” is a bit misleading. It’s really a mid-range boost. As well as boosting mid range, it also cuts the low end. This combination can make your amp scream and cut through any mix. The Beano Boost adds two other options for the frequency range boost: a lower mid boost and a bass boost.
