Team Canada consists of a Men’s Team and Women’s Team, who train towards the World Kendo Championships (WKC) hosted every three years. The 2021 Kendo Team Canada selection process is underway. The team will compete at the 18th WKC to be held in the spring of 2021 in Paris France.

During the practice of Kendo, the Kendoka begins right at the sixth kyu then will gradually descend to the first kyu. For them to pass the next Kendo ranks, the Kendoka are required to go through a promotional test; here, they will be given the chance to exhibit their abilities that they have learned throughout their Kendo training.
