How are appointment types mapped to underlying appointment types?

Behind the scenes, an appointment reason is mapped to an underlying appointment type. Appointment types are more familiar to practices since they are used when practices book appointments in the office. However, practices often have a multitude of appointment types for very similar appointments.

To add or change the category of an appointment type, edit that appointment type, then choose a category from the drop-down or select "Create a new Category..." The category option will only appear if you have more than one Appointment Type created. Want to change the name of an existing category?
