Do you need an api key for ip geolocation api?

Asked by Legend Jacobs on Dec 15, 2021 FAQ

IP-API has been running since 2012 and we are now providing one of the most popular and reliable IP Geolocation API. We're not going away! Do I need an API key for the free endpoint? We will never require an API key or registration and the API schema will not change. How many requests can I do?
Moreover,
The IP Geolocation API is currently on Version 1. Your API key is your unique authentication key to be used to access Abstract's IP Geolocation API. Note that each of Abstract's APIs has a unique API key, so you will need different keys to access the IP Geolocation and Email Validation API, for example.
Keeping this in consideration, However! Google's Maps Geolocation API, typically used on mobile clients, can be used from the web and does return a latitude & longitude based on the requesting client's IP address. Don't forget to swap in a real API key in the examples above AND to enable the Geolocation API for your Google API project.
In addition,
Geoapify Geocoding API and Places API provide a "bias" parameter to prefer local places and addresses. Together with location information, the IP Geolocation API returns useful information that lets you adjust better your website or app for a customer location. For example, set the currency for payments or language.
Likewise,
While you are no longer limited to a maximum number of requests per day (QPD), the following usage limits are still in place for the Geolocation API: 100 requests per second (QPS), per user. For information on terms of use, see policies for the Geolocation API, and the License Restrictions section of the Google Maps Platform Terms of Service.
