In this chapter, we'll learn how to protect your WordPress blog or website from spam. M ake sure your WordPress script is updated to the latest stable version. WordPress comes with a pre-installed anti-spam solution - Akismet.
Step (2) - Click the Activate button, as shown on the screen below.
Step (3) - The Akismet plug-in will be activated, and then click the Activate your Akismet account button, as shown on the screen below.
Step (4) - As shown in the figure below, click Get your API key to get a new key or enter it manually if you already have an API key.
Step (5) - If you do not have an API key, click the GET AN AKISMET API KEY tab to move further.
Step (6) - Fill in the required fields and click the Sign up button, as shown on the screen below.
Step (7) - After completing the registration process. /b10> You'll get the API key in your registered email ID. /b11> Enter the API key manually and click the Use this key button, as shown on the screen below.
Step (8) - If you enter the correct API key, your password will be verified and you will receive a confirmation message, as shown on the screen below.
Step (9) - Now your blog will be protected from spam by Akismet. /b10> You can view spam comments on your blog, or you can manually mark → comments as spam comments from the blog admin → Comments.
You can track how many spam posts Akismet has stopped and make sure your posts, blogs, comments, and more are safe. I n addition, you can prevent your site from being spamted by spammers who may harm your site.
