ASCII character set
ASCII, whose full name is "U.S. Information Exchange Standard Code." Designed in the early 1960s, it is a standard character set for computers and hardware devices such as printers and tape drives.
ASCII is a 7-bit character set that contains 128 different character values.
ASCII supports 0-9 numbers, A-Z capital and lowercase Letters, and some special characters.
Character sets that are widely used on modern computers, HTML, and the Internet are based on ASCII.
The following table lists 128 ASCII characters and the corresponding HTML entity encoding.
