vsftpd is a more secure file transfer service that allows users to log on to FTP servers in three authentication modes.
Anonymous Open Mode: One of the least secure authentication modes, anyone can log on to an FTP server without password verification.
Local user mode: The authentication mode is based on the local account password information of the Linux system, which is more secure than anonymous open mode and is simple to configure. But if the account's information is hacked by hackers, you can log on to the FTP server without any obstacles, giving you complete control of the entire server.
Virtual user mode: is the most secure authentication mode of these three modes, it needs to set up a separate user database file for FTP services, virtual out of the account information used for password verification, and these account information in the server system is actually not existing, only for FTP service program authentication use. This prevents hackers from logging into the server even if they have cracked the account information, effectively reducing the scope and impact of the breach.
