Although RPM can help users query software-related dependencies, the problem has to be solved by the operations staff themselves, and some large software may have dependencies on dozens of programs, in which case installing the software can be painful. Y um Software Warehouse is a technology designed to further reduce the difficulty and complexity of software installation. T he Yum repository analyzes the required packages and their associated dependencies based on the user's requirements, and then automatically downloads the packages from the server and installs them to the system. The technical topology of the Yum software repository is shown in Figure 1-50.

The RPM packages in the Yum repository can be officially released by Red Hat, released by third parties, or, of course, written by themselves. T he system image provided with the book "Linux Should Learn" (to be downloaded online on the book site) already contains a large number of available RPM Red Riding Hood packages, which are described in more detail later. Table 1-2 shows some common Yum commands that currently require only a simple impression of them.
