Eclipse is an open source, Java-based, scalable development platform.

Eclipse is Java's Integrated Development Environment (IDE), and of course Eclipse can also be used as an integrated development environment for other development languages, such as C, C, PHP, and Ruby.

Eclipse comes with a standard set of plug-ins, including Java Development Kit, JDK.



License

The Eclipse platform and its plug-ins are based on eclipse public licenses (EPL: Eclipse Public License).

Eclipse Public License (EPL) is an open source software release license that is applied by the Eclipse Foundation to Eclipse in an integrated development environment under its name.


Release

Since 2006, the Eclipse Foundation has scheduled simultaneous releases every year. S o far, simultaneous releases have been made mainly in June, and SR1 and SR2 releases will be released in September and February.
